"You must offer something good to the body so that the soul wants to live in it" Eating in Berlin
In typical Ashley fashion I got really sick during my visit to Berlin so the places I was planning on eating at during my Berlin trip didn't exactly happen. But here's some places I did get to:
Got to finally see what this schnitzel was about for my Christmas dinner. In Germany, Christmas Eve is a much bigger deal so it was easy enough to get reservations on Christmas Day. I ended up having their gluten free version of Jägerschnitzel with a cucumber potato salad, string beans and mushroom sauce. For dessert, I tried their chocolate moose! Everything was so delicious and the staff was incredibly kind. Just wasn't a fan of their gluten free beer...
This wasn't a place I was originally planning on eating at, but it was close to the Berlin Wall Memorial at the recommendation of the Find Me Gluten Free app so I decided to check it out. You get a lot for your money and it was really good! I had a cinnamon crepe and scrambled eggs with melted cheese and toast! The cinnamon crepe was a bit bland, but really enjoyed the breakfast and the atmosphere overall! Would advise you make a reservation ahead of time.
Jute Backerei is a 100% gluten free bakery. When I went, the day after Christmas, they didn't have a lot of options aside from the bread. With that said, the loaves of bread were varied and bountiful. They looked really amazing and large. Like real bread!! I did have a gluten free brownie and cookie for my breakfast though which was also delicious!
This was another place I did not originally plan for eating at but being sick caused me to have to plan on the fly a little bit. This was suggested by the Find Me Gluten Free app that they had a GF menu which, not only was that not true, the options they had were very limited. I took my little sides to go.
Lovebirds Contemporary Pizzeria
I was able to order in while I was sick through UberEats and get a pretty decent gluten free pizza here!
