"When I'm in NY, I just want to walk down the street and feel this thing, like I'm in a movie"

I was born and raised in New York. Although I love the city and the people, I never felt comfortable and at home there. The more I traveled, the more I realized NYC was a great place to visit, but not for me to live. In NY, I have learned that just because you're related to someone by blood, doesn't make them family. Just because you have a job, doesn't mean you're working. And just because you're in a house, doesn't make it your home.

I will end up spending my retirement years in New York, living with my brother. That will be fine for me. But in the meantime, I am going to be looking around the world for places I can call home. Right now, I've only had temporary homes. The only places that have felt like could be a permanent possibility would be Charlotte, NC and London, UK. The two places could not be more different. But whenever I'm not there, all I do is think about how I want to be back there.
