Prior to going to Memphis, a couple of people I knew had already seen Graceland and told me not to go. In their experience it was dirty and tacky and just disappointing. I decided I wanted to see it for myself and I'm so glad I did because my experience was the exact opposite. So. If there's ever a place you'd really like to see - don't let others stop you. You never know when you'll get the opportunity again so make sure you experience everything you're interested in seeing. Even if the worst happens, and you also had a negative experience - at least you have a story of your own to tell. Don't live your experience through other people - live them through you!
