“Milan is a city of discovery.”
This may be an unpopular opinion, but Milan was probably my least favorite city that I've visited throughout all of my travels. It reminded me of Paris, but without any of the magic. Perhaps if I was into make up or fashion, or even if I had visited at any other point in the year other than August, I would feel differently
Overall, the only part of the experience that I carried with me was getting to see The Last Supper. It amazed me that art created so incredibly long ago is still standing. It survived the bombings of wars, and just...time. It was a really interesting piece to get to see up close and personal, but unsure if it was worth traveling to Milan for. (Sorry, Milan)
Sometimes, it's okay that the cities of grandeur don't meet our expectations. I've heard many people say they were underwhelmed by Paris. This is an opinion I don't agree with, and I think people are going to think I'm crazy for not enjoying Milan. But that's okay. I haven't had a very long life so far but it seems like no one is allowed to agree to disagree anymore. Everything seems to be black and white, we've lost all color in what makes us as human beings so special. Yes, it's incredibly corny to say what makes you different makes you special. But it's corny because it's true. Instead of judging another person, place, or thing because it doesn't fall in line with how you expect the world to function, go deep into your soul and find some empathy. Just because things are different doesn't mean they're inferior to you. It just means it's something different.
I don't feel Milan is any better or worse of a city than the others, it just did not meet my expectations. The main exception again being The Last Supper. This was the main thing that helped me understand and appreciate the history and culture of the city. Hopefully, this is a lesson everyone can apply to their every day lives. If you meet someone that doesn't match what you feel a person should be, maybe focus on what makes them special, rather than what makes them different.
