"Food is our common ground" Eating in Lisbon
In general for Lisbon, as a rule of thumb, be VERY careful if you're following the Find Me Gluten Free App. It says there's a lot of options for gluten free eating, but you'll find a lot of restaurants refusing to serve you if they hear you have celiac, since there's so much cross contamination. Below are the places I was able to eat, and there's a grocery store that has a TON of options!
There's a lot of gluten free options here! I had gluten free toast with poached eggs, mushrooms and spinach! I really enjoyed it!
Make sure to keep saying you need a gluten free version of whatever you're eating - when it comes to the dessert apparently the things they list as gluten free are not actually gluten free. But the burger was very good!!
This was not the greatest place I've ever eaten at, but it did the job of filling me up! Make sure to bring a celiac card with you here as communication was a bit tricky for me not knowing any Portuguese... which is totally my fault, but communication is important when it comes to a food allergy.
The staff was incredibly sweet - a lot of options here!
Seems to be more of a date night spot - the food was good and there were some different options!
Celerio
This was a great supermarket that had such an AMAZING gluten free selection.
It was incredibly expensive but the fish was good! Unsure if it was worth the price, but the staff was very educated and made it feel super comfortable with getting a gluten free dish!
Pretty mediocre penne gluten free pasta!
I had an amazing eggs benedict dish here...and the hollandaise sauce was gluten free too!!!
