"Food is our common ground" Eating in Lisbon

In general for Lisbon, as a rule of thumb, be VERY careful if you're following the Find Me Gluten Free App. It says there's a lot of options for gluten free eating, but you'll find a lot of restaurants refusing to serve you if they hear you have celiac, since there's so much cross contamination. Below are the places I was able to eat, and there's a grocery store that has a TON of options!

  • Zenith

    • There's a lot of gluten free options here! I had gluten free toast with poached eggs, mushrooms and spinach! I really enjoyed it!

  • Cafe do Rio

    • Make sure to keep saying you need a gluten free version of whatever you're eating - when it comes to the dessert apparently the things they list as gluten free are not actually gluten free. But the burger was very good!!

  • Organi Chiado

    • This was not the greatest place I've ever eaten at, but it did the job of filling me up! Make sure to bring a celiac card with you here as communication was a bit tricky for me not knowing any Portuguese... which is totally my fault, but communication is important when it comes to a food allergy.

  • Manjerica

    • The staff was incredibly sweet - a lot of options here!

  • Leonetta

    • Seems to be more of a date night spot - the food was good and there were some different options!

  • Celerio

    • This was a great supermarket that had such an AMAZING gluten free selection.

  • Pinoquio

    • It was incredibly expensive but the fish was good! Unsure if it was worth the price, but the staff was very educated and made it feel super comfortable with getting a gluten free dish!

  • Il Munio

    • Pretty mediocre penne gluten free pasta!

  • Dear Breakfast

    • I had an amazing eggs benedict dish here...and the hollandaise sauce was gluten free too!!!
