Exploring Celiac Cruise - Greek Isles 2024

In Rome, it was a bit difficult because it was 100 degrees outside and shade was hard to come by. I also have seen a lot of Rome before, so it wasn't easy to see things my Aunt and I hadn't already seen. We did make reservations to see Vicus Caprarius which is the world under the Trevi Fountain. It was really cool and really glad we got to check it out.

On the boat, we went on Odyssey of the Seas with Royal Caribbean and there's a ton to do on that boat. If you can't find something you're interested in, you're a grumpy person. Sorry to whoever I just offended but it's true. For me, I took dance classes, laid out by the pool and went to the social events Celiac Cruise hosted when I wasn't on an excursion. Also - the SPA! Shoutout to Jen who is incredible!!

The rest of the excursions were all through Royal Caribbean. This was my first big ocean cruise so I didn't know how it worked. But apparently I had good instincts to stick with excursions through the boat instead of booking my own. If you book an excursion through the cruise line, if anything happens that causes delays in you getting back to the boat on time, you are less likely to get left behind. So if you're going on Odyssey of the Seas, doing the Greek Isles cruise, here are some of the excursions we went on:

  • Spirits of Santorini

    • We got to have a little tour of Santorini with a wine tasting that I didn't take part in. But the tour and finding out the history of Santorini was pretty cool! If you're celiac, I don't know that I would recommend this particular excursion because the wine at this wine tasting, some of them are beer and wine mixed together and they don't have someone walking you through the different tastings you have on the table in front of you.

  • Ancient Ephesus

    • Did the most basic walking tour of Ancient Ephesus and for me, it was just enough. I honestly liked this better than Pompeii. It was really built up and absolutely incredible!

  • Mykonos Exploration with Farmhouse Wine Tasting

    • I absolutely loved Mykonos - but the wine tasting offered was not celiac safe. Would recommend a walking tour or wander around tour or exploring the beaches tour. Our tour guide was pretty awful, learned absolutely nothing about the island of Mykonos. BUT, it was an absolutely beautiful island.

  • Capri On Your Own

    • Do this one. It was perfect. Do. This.
