"Bologna is the best city in Italy for food and has the least number of tourists" Eating in Bologna

Bologna had a couple of gluten free restaurants approved by AIC (an organization that helps guide those in Italy with celiac the safest places for them to eat) that I would need to go and try. But today's restaurant of choice was Trattoria Vecchio Mercato. I really liked the restaurant. Unfortunately this was the first time I experienced annoyance from anyone that I wasn't fluent in Italian from the staff, but the food was great. It's also my problem that I'm not learning Italian quickly enough and I speak at the level of a toddler. But this is a post for another time.

The restaurant is 100% gluten free. They served bread, I had spaghetti with clams and a custard cake. Overall everything was incredibly tasty. The clams I kind of felt like I was eating the sea, it was a bit salty. But overall the food was really great and kept me so full (yet not overstuffed) I didn't even feel the need to have dinner that night. It was incredibly satisfying.

It's out of the way of the city center, but an easy 15 minute walk from the train station. I highly recommend you trying Trattoria Vecchio Mercato if you have celiac and go visit Bologna.
